Diverted

The border collie was the first to spot it: a glazed hockey puck hanging from a string on the back porch. I went out to investigate. Oh, did it smell good. I couldn't stop staring at it. I drew closer to investigate and the sugary medallion rose ever so slightly out of reach. I heard giggling. I returned to the kitchen to fetch a stool...

...when I returned, the object of my affection had a bite taken out of it. I heard more giggling, this time muffled by chewing. I ducked back into the house to fetch the border collie to help assess the situation...

..."I think the scoundrels are having a little fun at our expense," the border collie said as the giggling turned to guffaws. "And I think it's time to plot our revenge."

  1. This is troubling,Riley T. Might even say taking a dark turn. Everyone knows glazed hockey pucks usually come in a bag or lined up in a box like round soldiers. Now this one dangling from a string? I think the natives are targeting your brain trust. They probably know about his medical condition and also his fondness for found food items. You're just going to have to be more of a leader and not depend so much on the border collie until this mystery is solved. Don't let your guard down!

  2. And to top it all off, they also had a camera installed to make sure they didn't miss any of the action under the hockey puck. What deviousness!

  3. Next time this happens you have to leave a trusted friend to keep watch while you go get the chair so it won't get to small☺
